Brand – Silesia („Marka - Śląskie”) – the Institute of Oncology is the laureate of the V edition of the contest.
 
During this year’s Gala of the Regional Chamber of Industry and Trade in Gliwice, which took place on 06 September 2014 in the Centre of Education and Business “New Gliwice,” the V edition of the “Brand – Silesia” contest was settled. The chapter of the contest granted the Maria Sklodowska-Curie Memorial Cancer Center and Institute of Oncology in Gliwice the award in category “Health.” The competition is organized in collaboration with the Speaker of the Silesian Province (Marszałek Województwa Śląskiego) and the President of Gliwice in order to honor the outstanding companies and institutions for the significant contribution to the development of the Silesia.

 

Special Award in 2013 PEARLS OF MEDICINE National Medical Competition

During the 2013 POLISH ENTREPRENEURSHIP Competition Great Gala held at the Warsaw “Gromada Hotel” on November 23, Prof. Adam Maciejewski received “PEARLS OF MEDICINE”, a special award for the first ever lifesaving face transplant in Poland and in the world.  Prof. Maciejewski, a Polish surgeon, received the award on behalf of the Reconstructive and Microvascular Surgery team he heads at the Maria Sklodowska-Curie Memorial Cancer Center and Institute of Oncology in Gliwice. 

 

 


“Polish People with Verve“ (Polacy z werwą) Award

During the “Polish People with Verve” Gala held at the Polish National Opera House in Warsaw on October 19, 2013 Prof. Adam Maciejewski and his team won a special award in a poll launched by PKN ORLEN Company.  The poll, aiming to showcase the achievements of eminent Poles, awards prizes in seven categories:  Design, Innovation in Business, Culture and Arts, Medicine, Science, Environmental Protection, and Sports.  Prof. Adam Maciejewski and his team received a special prize for performing the first ever lifesaving face transplant in Poland; the surgery took place at the Institute of Oncology in Gliwice in May, 2013.

 


“Employer as a Safe Workplace Promoter” Award

On October 9, 2012, our Institute was awarded third place in the 18th “Employer as a Safe Workplace Promoter” competition sponsored by the National Labor Inspectorate for employers operating in Silesia.

 

 


Second place in 2008 PEARLS OF MEDICINE National Medical Competition 

On November 29, 2008 the Cancer Center and Institute of Oncoloy in Gliwice won second place in Single Specialty Hospitals category.





 

 

 

Multiple Winner of the National Hospital Ranking

The Cancer Center in Gliwice has been a finalist in the 2008 National Hospital Ranking organized by the ”Rzeczpospolita” daily and the Centre for Monitoring Health Services Quality.   In 2007 and 2006, we placed fourth and third, respectively, in the Best Public Hospital in Poland category. Both in 2005 and 2006, we won the title of the best public hospital in the Silesian Region. 

 


The Gilbert H. Fletcher Medal

Prof. Bogusław A. Maciejewski, MD, PhD, Director of the Cancer Center in Gliwice, has been honored with the Gilbert H. Fletcher Medal for his outstanding contribution to the science and knowledge of cancer and radiotherapy.
